- Why time each slide individually rather than the whole talk?
- A single countdown for the full presentation only tells you that you ran over — it does not show you which slide ate your time. Per-slide tracking lets you spot the exact problem area after a rehearsal, so you can cut content from the right place or speed up a specific section. When you compare the bar chart, it is immediately obvious if slide 4 took twice its budget while the intro was fine.
- How do I set different target times for different slides?
- In the setup table you can type any minutes and seconds for each slide individually. Use the "Apply to all" button to set every slide to the same default first, then override the slides that need a different budget — for example a longer demo slide or a shorter title card. Changes take effect immediately when you start the session.
- Can I pause mid-slide without it counting the pause time?
- Yes. Press ▶ Start / ⏸ Pause (or the Space bar) to pause the stopwatch at any point during a slide — for example during a Q&A interruption or a video clip. The clock freezes and resumes exactly where it left off. Only the time the timer is actually running is logged for that slide.
- What does the deviation figure mean?
- Deviation is the difference between your actual elapsed time and the slide's target. A negative deviation (shown in green) means you finished the slide early. A positive deviation (shown in red) means you went over budget. The bar chart and CSV export both include the deviation for each slide so you can see patterns across multiple rehearsals.
- Is any data sent to a server?
- No. The entire timer runs in JavaScript in your browser. No slide titles, times, or results ever leave your device. The CSV and text exports are generated locally and downloaded directly — nothing is uploaded.
