- What types of inspections is this template suitable for?
- This tool works for any field inspection that needs a documented checklist with photographic evidence: construction site safety walks, equipment pre-use checks, facility maintenance rounds, quality control audits, property condition assessments, fire safety inspections, and more. The item labels are free text, so you can name them anything.
- Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
- No. Every photo stays on your device. The entire process — resizing photos, building the PDF, embedding images — happens inside your browser using the Canvas API and pdf-lib. The page makes no network requests with your data. You can verify this in your browser's developer tools network tab.
- How many photos can I attach per item?
- There is no hard limit. Each item has its own photo drop zone and you can add as many images as needed. Photos are automatically scaled down to a maximum of 800 px wide before embedding, which keeps the PDF file size manageable. For very large inspection jobs (50+ photos), generation may take a few seconds on older devices.
- Can I use this on a mobile phone or tablet on-site?
- Yes. The "Take Photo" button triggers the device camera directly, so you can capture and embed photos in real time as you walk the site. The layout is responsive for phone screens. Tap each item's photo zone to shoot or select from your gallery.
- What does the PDF report look like?
- The PDF is A4 (portrait). Page 1 shows the report header (site name, date, inspector, reference, overall notes) followed by a summary count of OK / NG / N/A items. Each subsequent section lists the item name, status badge (green OK, red NG, blue N/A), notes text, and embedded thumbnail photos side by side. The format is clean and suitable for client hand-off or record keeping.
- Can I print or email the PDF?
- Yes. Once downloaded, it is a standard PDF file you can print, attach to an email, upload to a project management system, or archive. The file name includes the site name and date for easy identification.
