- Is patient data sent to any server?
- No. Every field is processed only in your browser. The PDF is generated locally by the pdf-lib library and downloaded directly to your computer. Nothing is transmitted over the network. The case history is stored in your browser's LocalStorage, which is private to your device.
- What tooth numbering system does the chart use?
- The chart uses the FDI World Dental Federation notation (ISO 3950) — a two-digit system where the first digit is the quadrant (1–4 permanent, 5–8 primary) and the second is the tooth position (1 = central incisor, 8 = third molar). Quadrants run: upper-right (1x), upper-left (2x), lower-left (3x), lower-right (4x). This is the international standard used in most dental labs worldwide.
- Which shade guides are supported?
- The tool includes quick-select chips for VITA Classical (A1–D4, the most widely used), VITA 3D-Master (1M1 – 5M3 grid), and Ivoclar Chromascop (100–540). You can also type any custom shade code — for Dentsply, Shofu, or proprietary lab shades — in the custom field.
- Can I re-download a past case PDF?
- Yes. Every prescription you generate is saved to the Case History panel below the form. Click Re-download on any row to regenerate and download that PDF again. Cases persist until you clear the history or clear your browser's site data.
- Is this tool suitable for regulatory compliance / legal prescription use?
- This generator creates a convenient working document. Regulations on dental lab prescriptions vary by country (e.g. MDR in the EU, state rules in the US). Always verify that your jurisdiction's requirements for prescription content, signatures, and record-keeping are met before substituting this form for a legally required document.
