Frequently asked questions
- Is my baby's data safe? Does anything get uploaded to a server?
- Nothing ever leaves your device. Photos and milestone notes are stored in your browser's IndexedDB (a local database). There is no account, no server, no analytics on your content. The tool works fully offline once the page has loaded. To transfer your data to another device, use the PDF export and save the file yourself.
- What happens if I clear my browser data or switch browsers?
- IndexedDB is tied to the specific browser and device you use. If you clear site data or switch to a different browser, you will lose your entries. We strongly recommend downloading the PDF album regularly as a permanent backup. The PDF contains all your photos, dates, and notes and can be stored anywhere.
- How do I add a milestone that isn't in the list?
- Scroll to the bottom of the Milestone Type dropdown and choose "✏️ Custom milestone…". A text field will appear where you can type any milestone name — first haircut, first swim lesson, first word in a second language, or anything else that matters to your family.
- What format is the PDF album in, and can I print it?
- The PDF is A4-sized, one milestone per page, with the photo (if any) at the top, the milestone name and date below, and your notes at the bottom. It is generated entirely in your browser using pdf-lib and is ready to print directly or save to cloud storage. Photo quality depends on the original image you uploaded.
- Can I use this on my phone to log milestones right as they happen?
- Yes. The page is fully mobile-responsive. Tap "Click or drag a photo here" on a phone and your camera app or photo library will open. You can log a milestone in under a minute, and the PDF export works on mobile too. It works best in Chrome, Safari, and Firefox on both iOS and Android.
