- Is this the original Heardle?
- No. The original Heardle (acquired by Spotify in 2022, shut down in 2023) used licensed commercial tracks. This is a free, independently made tribute that uses only CC-BY licensed music from the Free Music Archive and ccMixter, so it can run legally with no backend costs. A different track plays every day.
- What songs are in the playlist?
- All tracks are sourced from the Free Music Archive and ccMixter under Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY) licences. Genres range from indie pop, electronic, jazz, folk, and ambient — approximately one year's worth of daily puzzles. You can find the original track and artist attribution in the result card after each game.
- My streak reset — what happened?
- Streaks are stored in your browser's
localStorage. Clearing your browser data, switching browsers, or using a private/incognito window will reset your streak because no account or server stores it. To preserve your streak, always play in the same browser on the same device.
- Can I replay today's puzzle or go back to previous days?
- Today's puzzle can only be played once per device per day — once you've submitted your final answer or run out of guesses, the result is locked until midnight. There is no archive of past puzzles; the game resets each day at 00:00 UTC.
- Does the game work offline?
- The game logic, scoring, and UI are fully client-side and work offline. Audio clips are streamed from a CDN on first listen; if you are offline and haven't played yet today, the audio may not load. Once the audio has been cached by your browser, replaying it works offline.
