- Is my clients' data private and secure?
- Yes. This tool runs entirely inside your browser. All pet profiles, owner contact details, vaccination dates, and session photos are stored in IndexedDB — a browser-native database on your own device. No data is ever sent to Knackpad's servers or any third party. For extra safety, use this on a device only you access and export a CSV backup regularly. Clearing your browser's site data will erase the records, so regular exports are your safety net.
- What is a dog grooming customer record card and why do I need one?
- A grooming record card is a permanent profile for each dog you groom. It captures the dog's breed, coat type, health conditions, vaccination status, and temperament alerts alongside the owner's contact details. Each time you groom the dog you add a session log entry — the date, services, products, blade used, notes, and photos. Together they give you a complete history: you can instantly see what trim you did last time, whether the dog's nails were cut short or long, and whether there were any health concerns to watch for. This protects you legally, improves consistency, and builds trust with pet owners who can see you remember their dog's preferences.
- How do I record vaccination dates and why does it matter?
- Enter the dog's last vaccination date and the next due date in the "Vaccination & Health" section of the client card. Many grooming salons — and most reputable mobile groomers — require dogs to be vaccinated against core diseases (Distemper, Parvovirus, Hepatitis, Bordetella) before acceptance. Recording this lets you quickly check compliance at each appointment, remind owners when boosters are overdue, and protect the other animals in your care. The record card also stores flea/tick treatment dates, which matters in shared grooming environments.
- How do I export a record card as PDF or PNG?
- Go to the "Log Groom Session" tab, select a dog from the dropdown, and scroll to the session history that appears below. Click Export PDF Record Card to download a formatted A4 PDF containing the full pet profile and all groom sessions. Click Export PNG Card to download a single-image snapshot of the card — useful for WhatsApp, email, or printing without needing a PDF viewer. Both exports happen entirely in your browser with no server involved.
- Can I record behaviour alerts for nervous or aggressive dogs?
- Yes — and you should. The "Behaviour & Alerts" field is prominent in the client record. Note anything relevant: anxiety around dryers, snapping when ears are touched, muzzle requirements, past incidents, or calming techniques that work. These notes appear highlighted in the PDF export so any staff member picking up the file is immediately warned. Keeping these records also provides important documentation if a dog bites or an injury occurs during grooming.
- What information should I record in the treatment notes?
- Record anything that differed from normal, anything the owner should know, or anything you want to remember next time: matting severity, skin conditions or lesions observed, the exact blade combination used, how the dog responded to the dryer, nail length issues, ear canal health, anal gland expression if performed, and any products applied for sensitivity. The more detail you record, the faster your next groom of the same dog will go — and the more professional you look when the owner asks "what did you use last time?"
- Can I use this on a phone or tablet at the grooming salon?
- Yes. The tool is fully mobile-responsive and works in any modern browser — Safari on iPhone, Chrome on Android, or a tablet at your grooming station. IndexedDB is supported on all major mobile browsers. Note that each device has its own independent storage, so records added on your phone won't automatically appear on your desktop. Use the CSV export to transfer data between devices, or export individual PDFs for sharing.
